last night

I looked up
    the moon's a foggy smile
jogged to catch
the 3 bus, diagonally
across the empty street
holding (like a smooth pebble
in my bag) your thought,
it was really good to see you,
a week later but you said it,
    briefly, Jen
briefly me.

My SXSW 2012

March 17
Irie Bean St. Patty's Day Show
Head for the Hills
The Railflowers played 2nd
Rakosi
Jen Hitt!
with Jason Williams
Joy Kills Sorrow

March 16
The Dalles got all sweaty and seriously rocked the White Horse
A City By A Lake: Uplifting layered singable pop

March 15
Boris McCutcheon at the White Horse

March 14
Later in the evening Ray Wylie Hubbard just made it very clear, in case you needed reminding, that he is still a bad ass. It was too crowded to get a photo, same with the Steeldrivers set.
The Farewell Drifters in their SXSW debut

French Legation Museum: Contrary to the schedule this was not Niki and the Dove, they played dreamy rock with good vocal harmonies, two drummers and an accordion.

J Irvin Dally = yes

March 13
I was not happy with the t-shirt advertising I was being asked to wear...
...so I put a bird on it!

SXSWoah!

Sarah Jarosz at SXSW '10
It's upon us, this crazy festival of music, film, and interaction.

In years past I've been the visitor and bounced around from show to show, but this year I'm going to be much more stationary. I'll be helping the local NPR affiliate, KUT edit their live performances for later air.

I'm also working on stage crew at the White Horse, March 14-16, so I'll catch all the official showcases there. I'm excited to hear:
The Farewell Drifters
The SteelDrivers
Jack Wilson
Shakey Graves
Brennen Leigh

Saturday (3/17), I'm playing at and producing a day show at Irie Bean:
2pm Head for the Hills
2:45 The Railflowers
3:15 Rakosi
4:00 Jen Hitt
4:45 Dave Mulligan
5:15 Joy Kills Sorrow

Dengue Fever at SXSW '10
Here are some of my other picks:
