Thank You!
I'm back in Austin after my East Coast tour! Big thanks to all the family and friends who helped me in my travels.
The venues were amazing too, thanks to The Corner Store, Institute of Musical Traditions, SOVA, Pete's Candy Store, House of Love Concerts and The Rinzler's for providing a space to perform.
Hope to see you down the road!
xo,
Jen

| Miles of Music Camp |
Oh my, I'm so excited to be heading on tour this month!
First up is the Miles of Music Camp on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. It's a week of rustic camping and music learning... I might not even have cell phone service, exciting!
Then after camp, I'm heading to Brooklyn, NY to perform a concert at the First Unitarian Unversalist Society of Brooklyn, Saturday, June 16th. It's an event targeted at people in their 20's and 30's (but all 18+ are welcome). AND there's a beer tasting... RSVP here.

Finally I'll be going back home to DC for a House Concert, Friday, June 22nd, at the home of Elise Foster in Columbia Heights. Let me know if you can make it...

Spring in Austin
It's another rainy day here in Austin, we've had quite a few this week, this month.
In the meantime, I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't rain for any of my upcoming outdoor gigs...
Below are my upcoming shows, I would love to see you out at one and I'd like to think I make it pretty easy, because the places I'm playing are well stocked with tasty food, cheap drink, and everyone's favorite; caffeine.
THIS FRIDAY, May 11th, 8-9 p.m.
Bouldin Creek Food Park
1209 S. First St (just North of the Torchy's trailer park)
- this is the perfect place to bring the kiddos
- this is the perfect place to get a delicious meal: Wasota African Cuisine, Soco to Go, Little Thai Food, and Phatso's Cheesesteaks (BYOB)
- the music starts at 6pm with Heather Miller and JUSTIF and then me!
WEDNESDAY, May 23rd, 6-7:30 p.m.
Flipnotics Coffeespace
1601 Barton Springs Rd
- the talented Bethel Steele is heading down from Boston and will be playing right after me.
- most beer and wine is a dollar to fifty cents off during happy hour
Also, my regular Wednesday night Open Mic is still taking place, I always play a set at the beginning and then open it up to others, if you wanna play just send me an email or signup at 6:30.
WEDNESDAY, May 15, 30, 7-9:30 p.m.
Irie Bean Open Mic
2310 S. Lamar Blvd
- the beer is $2 a bottle (not just Lone star, but Shiner too)
- good for the kiddos and the patio is lovely this time of year
I'm also working on my June tour schedule right now... if you're in Boston, Brooklyn, or DC, I'm coming to you!!

last night
I looked up
the moon's a foggy smile
jogged to catch
the 3 bus, diagonally
across the empty street
holding (like a smooth pebble
in my bag) your thought,
it was really good to see you,
a week later but you said it,
briefly, Jen
briefly me.

In years past I've been the visitor and bounced around from show to show, but this year I'm going to be much more stationary. I'll be helping the local NPR affiliate, KUT edit their live performances for later air.
I'm also working on stage crew at the White Horse, March 14-16, so I'll catch all the official showcases there. I'm excited to hear:
The Farewell Drifters
The SteelDrivers
Jack Wilson
Shakey Graves
Brennen Leigh
Saturday (3/17), I'm playing at and producing a day show at Irie Bean:

Winter Tour '12
Well the road has been pretty kind to me so far. I've been in Memphis since Wednesday at the Folk Alliance Conference. It's a whirlwind event with music music music 24 hours a day and all kinds of industry seminars. Here are some of my faves (check out these people's music):
I'm heading to Nashville next, gonna spend some downtime with Echo and have more musical adventures. Oh and Echo needs to take me to the juice and salad bar. I need some carrot juice and some Kale to make up for everything I've been (happily) eating in Memphis.
Then on Thursday I'm off to DC, I'll be there March 1-6. I'll get to visit WAMU, perform a few times, and hug everyone thoroughly.
And I'm touring around with copies of my new short album, Tonight. I'll have some special hand-pressed copies for sale in DC.

Songwriting Club
I joined a very fun songwriting group, called Songwriters Anonymous, and yesterday wrote a song for the biweekly meeting. The title was picked by the group, so here's my take on it!
It features Duke the Fluke that the lovely Leigh Ann let me borrow.

In the Studio and In Memphis
I'm super excited!! I've booked studio time at Bruce Chandler's studio and will be recording a short, 6 song, album in the beginning of February. The songs I've picked out are Austin, Long Story, Here's the Thing, Superman, Tonight and a brand new one, Turn the Page.
I wrote Turn the Page sitting here in Austin thinking about my DC family of friends, it's a love story really. It starts with my usual walk to Chadwicks on Monday evening.
I'm also making preparations to head to the Folk Alliance International Conference in Memphis in the end of February. Since I'll be travelling, I'm hoping to head to Nashville briefly after that and then on to DC and possibly Brooklyn.
I'll be sure to post dates on my tour page as soon as they're confirmed.
And I have a show in Austin coming up at the Irie Bean on Thursday, Feb. 2nd at 8pm. It's half price wine night, so it should be a blast.
Hope to see you out at a show!
